Boston, MASSACHUSETTS
In 1983 Boston 's Green Line was in need
of a new, reliable light rail vehicle that could maneuver
through the ice and snow of New England winters. A vehicle
that moved swiftly and smoothly into the city tunnels and
out to suburban communities, connecting Fenway Park and the
Museum of Fine Arts to the Back Bay and Downtown Business
District. They looked for a company that could modernize the
line yet work seamlessly with the vehicles, signaling &
communications systems already in place.
Kinkisharyo responded with a custom designed and engineered
high-floor light rail vehicle. We successfully delivered
120 safe, reliable vehicles on time and within budget to
the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority. And our
vehicles comprise the majority of the Green Line fleet
in use today. Keeping residents and tourists moving safely
and quickly throughout Boston has been key to the city's
success. We at Kinkisharyo look forward to future innovations
in Boston 's light rail vehicles, as this fast-paced growth
shows no signs of stopping.
